Alex Pettyfer, the 21-year-old hunky star of I Am Number Four and Beastly, will be playing a male stripper in Magic Mike. But the blond actor won't be playing just any male stripper. The movie's story is based on Channing Tatum's brief career as a male stripper when he was 18.

That's right, before Tatum went on to star in Step Up and Dear John, the 31-year-old shook his moneymaker as part of a male dance revue in Florida. Back then, his stage name was "Chan Crawford," and the group was known as -- wait for it -- Male Encounter.

Since Tatum is too old to play his 18-year-old self in the movie, Pettyfer was selected. Thankfully, that doesn't mean Tatum, who's also producing the movie, won't be in Magic Mike. Tatum will play a mentor to his younger self. We're going to hope that means there will be dance scenes starring these two.

Back in 2010, Tatum spoke about his stripper history. "Look, I'm not proud of it," he confessed. "But I'm not ashamed of it."

Tatum has been married to his Step Up costar, Jenna Dewan, since 2009. The two met while making the movie and dated for three years before tying the knot in Maui.

The movie will be directed by Steven Soderbergh, director of the Oceans movie franchise, Erin Brockovich and Traffic.

A romance like this hasn't come along since, well, since Rachel McAdams' and Channing Tatum's last movies! I'm talking a Notebook and Dear John-worthy tearjerker.

"I do like tear-jerkers," the masculine Tatum admitted when we chatted with him and McAdams about their new movie, The Vow. "It's a good purging, cathartic thing."

Tatum got even more sentimental as he told the story of he and his wife's  first meeting.

"I was reading with all the girls for Step Up and she walked into another girl's audition," Tatum told us. "I remember her breath being bad when we actually had a kissing scene. She loves it when I bring that up. It actually got better, I married her."

It must have! The couple has been married for over two years now and Tatum still thinks just hanging out with her is the best.

"When we have date night, we usually have a staycation and just chill out, turn off phones, no internet, no nothing," said Tatum "We're just like, 'Let's sit and watch some good movies, or just turn everything off and see how many bottles of wine we can get through and see what we can talk about.'"

McAdams seems to be into more exhilarating dates, telling us her most memorable one was a trip to the train tracks.

"You sit on the trestle, and as the train comes by, you close your eyes and try not to flinch," Rachel recalled. "I'll certainly never forget it. I'm alive to tell about it thank goodness. It was rather thrilling."

Rachel's own life is quite thrilling as well. She told us her decision to become an actress was actually an accident.

"I was on one track, going to go to school for something entirely different, and ending up going into acting as a fluke," said Rachel. "I was going to get a degree in Cultural Studies, and I don't know what that means actually! I just chose something. It sounded like it covered a lot of ground."

We're certainly glad she found acting!

Before he got paid millions to show off his sexy bod, he used to dance as a stripper in an all-male revue called Male Encounter. Now that's one show we would like to have seen in person — but we can get as close as possible with this old footage!

As for those business types close to Tatum who would rather not have him admit to shaking his groove thang in a thong? "I don't care what they think," he told Details. "I'm happy I did it. I'm not proud, because it's not something to be proud of, but I had an experience that only one out of a thousand — a million — people can say they've ever had. I've been through this crazy sort of life, and I came out the other side fairly unscathed."

You know those crazy backflips in Step Up? All Channing. He told GQ: "You know when someone is so nervous about something, it makes you doubt yourself? Like on Step Up, I was going to do this back?ip off the car. That's something I do, like, all the time. I just do back?ips off things. By the time it was time to do it, I was, like, shaking, because everyone was all, 'Are you sure you want to do this?' But then I did it, and it was ?ne."

Or, ummm... much more than fine, from our perspective!

But Chan has a whole lot more going for him than his face : He received critical acclaim for his performance as a streetwise boy from Queens in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, including a Best Supporting Actor nomination from the Independent Spirit Awards.

He's a small-town kind of guy

Chan isn't a huge fan of the club culture in L.A. — especially when he could be shaking his groove thang down in Tampa, Florida, where he spent his teen years:

"L.A. sucks for going out," he told Details. "Everything here is a 'lounge.' Everyone just sits around at a table, drinking a cocktail, looking at each other. There are no dance clubs. Back in Florida, I'm gonna go into a club, get drunk, get sweaty, dance, have a good time, and get a taxi home. There's no place here that does dancing like that. I miss it, man. I miss it."

In 10 Years, Tatum shares the screen with real-life wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum. And he's gone from Magic Mike to Average Joe. The film features some of Hollywood's hottest stars, as well as a few up-and-comers.

The cast includes Rosario Dawson, Chris Pratt, Ari Graynor, Justin Long, Max Minghella, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Aubrey Plaza, Lynn Collins, Oscar Isaac and Kate Mara.

The movie takes place the night of their high school reunion, where they quickly return to their juvenile ways.

Tatum's character is ready to propose marriage to his girlfriend but gets sidetracked by an old flame . Long and Minghella battle each other for the attention of former "it girl" Collins, while Pratt's character, a reformed bully, reverts to brutish behavior.

Hollywood's a small town, and most of the film's cast has worked together in the past. Both Pratt and Plaza currently star in NBC's Parks and Recreation, and Mackie and Geraghty co-starred in both The Hurt Locker and We Are Marshall. There are more where those came from, but you get the point.

Most central to the story is Jake , who loves his girlfriend Jess , but hasn't worked up the nerve to propose marriage. Someone else still lingers in the back of his mind, preventing him from making this life-leap.

We soon learn that someone is his high school sweetheart Mary , who makes an unexpected appearance at their 10-year high school reunion. Mary is married now, but even more beautiful. Will she and Jack still have that spark? And if the answer is yes, what are they going to do about it?

Meathead jock Cully is married to his high school babe Sam , and they have babies of their own. Sam is looking forward to the reunion as an opportunity to apologize to all the nerds he bullied and humiliated all those years ago. For Cully, he sees this night as an opportunity to show everyone how much he's changed -- if only he had changed.

Party girl Anna is again, the belle of the ball, decked out in rhinestones and fur. Her charisma and stylish persona give the impression that her party's never stopped. Two recently successful dudes who never had a chance with Anna in high school, Marty and A.J. , now follow her around the reunion like lost puppies, still mesmerized by her popularity and feminine wiles. What they don't realize is that she's paid a price for her partying and her fun-girl image is all smoke and mirrors.

Indie rocker Reeves has made it big with a hit song and finally, buttressed by fame and success, can flirt with his school crush Elise . She is floored when he reveals that she was the inspiration that led to his musical success.

10 Years tells a relatable story for America’s 20-somethings, but never really goes too deep into the comedy or drama. The performances are all good, but there aren’t enough hijinks, hookups, or humiliations to really make this movie memorable.

Bottom line: While the actors make a watchable ensemble, the story lacks the creative spark to warrant a race to the cinema.

We get the scoop!

The beautiful and talented Jenna Dewan-Tatum may have cut her teeth on the romantic dance flicks Take the Lead and Step Up, but she’s about to break into a whole new fan base when she steps into the role of Teresa on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Asylum.

SheKnows recently sat down with the actress to discuss working with Adam Levine on American Horror Story, how she keeps her skin so flawless and what it’s like being married to Channing Tatum.

On American Horror Story…

SheKnows: I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Step Up because my wife loves it.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum: Aww, thanks! I get that a lot. A lot of guys say, “My wife or my girlfriend made me watch it, but I gotta say it was kind of really good!”

SheKnows: How did you first come to land your role on American Horror Story?

JDT: I just actually got a call from my agent that they were auditioning girls for this role, so I went in and chemistry-read with Adam Levine, who was already cast, and then got the call that I got it. It was just like a normal audition process.

SheKnows: Had you seen the first season before you were cast or were you just a Ryan Murphy fan in general?

JDT: Yes. I was a big fan of American Horror Story because my friend Kate Mara has been a great friend of mine for a while, so I watched it because of her, but then I got so into the show that I kept watching. So when I heard about this audition, I thought, “Oh my God, this would be a dream!”

SheKnows: You’re working alongside Adam Levine who is kind of breaking into acting for the first time. What was that like? Did you have to give him any tips?

JDT: No, he was fantastic! I mean, he’s obviously such a great performer, and, I think a lot of that really helps when you move into acting, but he was really natural and really great. He just had so much natural ability. I was really impressed. I didn’t have to tell him anything. Basically, I think he was more just having fun with it and I think this is a really exciting time for him to be able to work on such a great show and get his feet wet in acting. He did a really great job. We had a blast. We ended up becoming good friends and we just laughed a lot. We were doing such heavy, intense stuff that you just have to kind of play around in between takes to keep your sanity.

SheKnows: Are you campaigning to get Channing a guest spot at some point?

JDT: No, no. Channing is so busy. I don’t even think he would have the time.

On beauty…

SheKnows: Your skin in flawless! What is your daily beauty or skin care routine?

JDT: I use a slew of products -- probably about 10 products -- that I do at night and in the morning. I’m very religious about skin care. I generally use Dr. Lancer’s line of products. It always keeps my skin clear and even and [is good for] anti-aging. All that stuff. But I also really love argan oil, which is Moroccan oil from Josie Maran. I slather that on every night, especially when I travel, and I think it really helps my skin stay moist and moisturized.

SheKnows: I’m a big fan of Josie as well. I love her work and it’s nice to see her break into the cosmetics business.

JDT: Her makeup and her skin care line are incredible.

SheKnows: Would you consider that your can’t-live-without-it skin care product?

JDT: Moisturizer is just my can’t-live-without. I can’t go anywhere without having moisturizer on and I love her argan oil, so yeah the last couple of years I’ve been addicted.

SheKnows: How do you highlight your favorite feature, whether it’s your eyes, lips, cheeks or anything else?

JDT: I normally pick one. I either go for a more intense eye or an intense lip color. Generally, if I do an eye, I do a smoky eye or I do a little shimmer of color on my eyes to help bring out the green color. If I don’t, then I do a clean eye with a red lip or a plum lip. I like to highlight either eyes or lips.

SheKnows: When it’s just you and hubby hanging out at home, are you more of a made-up-ready-to-go-out girl or are you a sweatpants-and-tank-tops girl?

JDT: Oh, no, no no. When I’m at home, hanging out, I am no makeup, in sweatpants or jeans and a T-shirt. I am chilling. Unless I’m going out on the town, I am not made up.

SheKnows: I think women underestimate how sexy that can be.

JDT: Oh, yeah. I’m lucky because my husband likes me better that way anyway, so I don’t have to put that much work into it. Plus, I film so much and I do so many things where I’m constantly having my hair touched and tons of makeup put on that when I’m not filming or working or going out, the last thing I want to do is be putting on makeup.

On Love…

SheKnows: So it’s date night for you and Channing. And instead of the typical dinner and a movie, you guys are going to do something fun and outside the box. What is it?

JDT: I always think it’s fun to go see a play or go see a musical. Do something spontaneous. Maybe drive up to a different town or a different area near your city and try out a new hotel. Just have fun. I think people should always keep an element of play in their relationships and spontaneity. It keeps things fun and fresh.

SheKnows: Is it hard for you guys to do that type of thing, going out in public, when you’re both so recognizable now?

JDT: It’s gotten a little bit more so lately, but still, even saying that, we have it really easy. People don’t really bother us. I see other people on TMZ that have it a million times worse than we do. You just have to be a little bit more careful about where you go and stuff like that, but I don’t want to let that rule my life. I want to have a good, fun, enriched life and I feel like if you put that out there, then that’s the life you’ll live.

SheKnows: If you could go back in time and give your single self one love tip, what would it be?

JDT: Try and be single. I was always the girl that — whenever I ended up single I would always say, “OK, I’m just going to date and just be single” — and I would always end up in a relationship nearly every time. I was rarely single, so I don’t really have a good tip for myself.

SheKnows: On that note, you’ve been married for three years now. What’s the one thing about marriage that surprised you, either good or bad?

JDT: I don’t know. It really didn’t feel that different. I guess that surprised me. It was kind of just a natural progression. It didn’t really change much and it still feels nice and romantic. I think I was waiting for some grand thing to change but, if anything, you just get stronger and more connected.

SheKnows: Is that your favorite thing about being married, just the fact that it was so seamless for you?

JDT: Yeah, absolutely.

SheKnows: You and Channing are both very active on social media. You send each other fun messages on Twitter. Is that an easy way for you guys to interact with each other and also a mostly harmless way to interact with the fans?

JDT: I think being on social media is my favorite way to get in touch with my fans because it’s direct. I can talk to them. They can ask me questions and I can answer them. It’s weird to me that the new world that we live in is social media everything. I remember when I was a kid, we just didn’t have this, so it’s just bizarre to me that this is the way the world is going. But, yeah, I think it’s fun. I think, as long as you look at it as a fun part of your life that you can also connect with people that you wouldn’t normally connect with. I love hearing their feedback. I love hearing their thoughts on some of the projects that I do, and their excitement. I just think it’s great. I love being in contact with them that way.

Hot dad alert! Magic Mike star Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan, 32, are expecting their first child together!

Their rep announced that the couple, who have been married since 2009, ”are pleased to announce that they are expecting the birth of their first child next year.”

Dewan, who met Channing while they were filming the 2006 hit Step Up, showed off her baby bump for the first time in a sparkly, strapless Temperley dress paired with Neil Lane jewels at the 2012 VH1 Divas event.

The couple had recently hinted they were ready for kids, with Tatum telling People.com, “I’m ready; I think she’s ready.“

How many kids do the couple want to have? “The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that.”

“It’s really easy for us guys to say, ‘I want like 15 kids,’” he continued. “Jenna will be like, ‘Well you better get another wife!’”

Kardashian told reporters that she and her boyfriend of eight months do plan on finding out the sex of their baby — or is it babies? Recent reports speculate that she is possibly carrying twins however that has yet to be confirmed.

"I have felt good. I haven't had any morning sickness, but it still isn't the easiest,” she told Us Weekly. "People always say it's easy and fun. It's definitely an adjustment learning about your body and stuff like that. I've been feeling really good so that's good."

Channing Tatum’s pregnant wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum looked casually chic as she was spotted furniture shopping at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. We love Jenna's maternity style— and she looked adorbs in a striped maxi dress paired with a cropped denim jacket and flats.

Speaking of Channing, he recently told People.com that he is working hard to keep Jenna happy during her pregnancy.

“Oh man, I'm not even getting into what I do to pamper Jenna. I'm doing anything that she asks for,“ he said. “She jokes to me all the time by saying, ’If I feel good, then the baby feels good or if I'm happy, then the baby is happy.’ And I'm like, ’That is such an urban myth. You're just saying that to get me to do everything for you.’“

“I know it's probably true, but I like to joke about it and she hates it,“ he continues. “I'll go to the store to pick up shakes or give her 1,000 foot rubs. A foot rub now through the nine months if I have to, just to keep her happy and comfortable.“

Wood gave the standard Hollywood response when asked about her pregnancy: “I’m over the moon.”

“Motherhood is my dream and my husband is always the one I wanted to do it with,” she told Access Hollywood. “So, I’m very happy!”

Wood, who was once engaged to Marilyn Manson, is due with her child later this year.

Holly Madison wore a floral dress paired with a pink jacket to her baby shower at the Meatball Spot in Las Vegas last Saturday. Madison, who is due in early March with her baby girl, was joined by her boyfriend Pasquale Rotella and 25 of her close friends.

The “Valentine’s Day” themed shower featured pink tulips on the tables, pink heart-shaped balloons — and meatballs, of course.

Guests sipped on alcohol-free drinks called “The Holly Go-Lightly” and were asked to donate gifts to Baby2Baby charity instead of bringing Holly gifts.

“I’ve been depending heavily on stretchy Roberto Cavalli dresses for evening looks lately. Most people probably think prints are a no-no during pregnancy, but I figure I’m going to look like a beach ball no matter what so I might as well have fun with it!” she recently wrote on her blog.

“It was hard to decide which way to go. Do you hide the bump, do you show it off?“ she told reporters at the awards show. “I went with show it off! I embraced it!“

She recently said that her daughter Birdie is excited for a sibling. “My daughter is very excited… it’s actually something that she has asked for quite some time,” she told People... “My husband and I were on the fence about whether or not we were going to add to our family, but now that we’re on our road, we’re really excited.”

Guys with Kids star Jamie Lynn-Sigler is turning her onscreen character into reality as she and her fiance, Cutter Dykstra, are expecting their first child together.

“Jamie couldn't be happier. Cutter is the perfect guy for her,“ a source told Us Weekly. “Although they have only been together for a year, they both know that this is it for both of them. They are both on cloud nine as are their families and friends.“

No word yet how far along she is, however the 31-year-old former Entourage star doesn’t appear to be showing quite yet.

“Thank you to everyone for all the sweet messages. We are so excited to be able to share the news of this incredible blessing,” she tweeted.

“Jessica immediately said yes and when the doctor told her it was a boy she screamed with joy,“ the source continues. “She was so happy that Maxwell is getting a little brother because that’s something she always wanted when she was growing up.“
